Raceday

After a long night last night....mine...not Avery, she slept until 7am or so.... We got up to watch the races today.

Apparently I just told her the funniest joke she ever heard....

She needed to take a good long nap in the middle of the day, cuddling with her blanket.

Tummy time with mommy.
Apparently another funny joke was told by someone....

Avery has a tongue

Shortly after Avery discovered that she can make a fist with her right hand, she discovered she has a tongue.  Often times when she gets home from school, the pads on her carseat are wet from her licking them.  You have to be careful holding her in the morning as she will lick your shirt before you go to work if she is awake and kicking.

Next up...connecting her hand to her tongue.....

Sleeping

An update on Avery's sleeping habits.....

As of this week, she is sleeping through the entire night.  Starting Sunday night/Monday morning, our alarms would go off before Avery would wake up.  She is going to bed at 8pm.  She won't stay up any longer than that.  This morning I had to wake her up to change her diaper and feed her breakfast.  I couldn't help but take a few pictures first.

A cute sleeping baby.....
When she is put down to sleep she is 90 degrees from how she is laying in this picture.  Her head is at the top of this picture and her feet are where her head is.  Sometimes she is under the changing table off to the right.  How she does this without getting upset and waking up is crazy......but I know Laura is so much happier now that she gets to sleep straight through.

My Father's Day

My first father's day (weekend) was a lot of fun.  I taught Avery how to throw a ball.  Next up, teaching Mommy how to use the video feature in on the camera to record her throwing a pass.
We had some laughs on the back porch.
Me and my two kids looking at the camera all at once.....a father's day miracle!
Avery goofing off at the pool.

Enjoying some fresh air out in the backyard wearing one of my favorite outfits.  Anytime she gets upset, we can go outside in the backyard or put her in the stroller and she just loves to look at the trees and be outside.

Happy Fathers Day

I was going through my pictures looking for ones to print to put up in Avery's crib in daycare so she doesn't forget who we are during the week.  I came across some great pictures of me and my dad.

How much does Dad look like David?  Especially during mustache march....
This is me, my brother, and my dad in Philmont.  What kind of dad would take off 2+ weeks of work, pay thousands of dollars to fly us to New Mexico, and hike 100+ miles in 10 days carrying a 50lb pack?  My dad.
Nothing like the trips to the lake every summer, the 5 of us in a popup camper.
How much does baby sara look like baby Avery?

Happy Fathers Day to my dad and all the other dad's out there!

Art Project

Here is a picture of "Avery's" first art project. "Avery" first drizzled glue on a piece of paper and then "she" sprinkled green sand onto the paper where it stuck to the glue.

Anniversary

We had our 7th wedding anniversary this past sunday.  Instead of celebrating with a trip to New York or a fancy dinner, we had a couple PBR's by the pool with Miss Avery Jean and ate leftovers.  We could not have been happier.
Avery enjoys being outside so we just layout a towel on a pool chair in the shade and she has the best time just watching the trees and birds.
This seems to be Avery's new thing.  Make a fist with her right hand and stare at it.  I don't know if it is a Blank Panther thing or what.  Maybe she is practicing her tiger woods fist pump.
No pool trip is complete without a dip in the pool.  She seems to enjoy it and will just completely relax. She even relaxed her fist and concentrated on other things in this picture.

Vass Vacation

Before Avery and I met Rob at the beach, we stopped off in Vass for some quality time with my family.  Charger got to hang out with his "cousin" Harpo and they barked at every bird, tree, cloud whatever.  Avery's new toy, Violet, also barks and that really got them going.
Stephanie's best friend since Kindergarten, Kelly, was getting married this weekend and we had a bridal luncheon at Woodlake to kick off the festivities.  The back porch was a great photo op and the weather was awesome.

Avery enjoyed hanging out with her Granddaddy Gibson.  He even got her to go down for a late afternoon nap, which is always the hardest one.  Even more lucky, she slept for TEN hours straight that night.  It was almost scary, I woke up a few times just to make sure she was breathing.  Also, Mom was feeding her the next day and she decided she wanted 6 oz of milk.  Guess there is something special about a grandparent's touch.

Of course Aunt Stephanie spoils her too!  Notice the "My aunt loves me" bib and now Avery has another "My aunt rules" onesie :)  We really enjoyed the visit!

First Day of School

We got up early this morning and got Avery ready for her first day of school.  I made bottles and got Avery dressed.  Laura packed her a bag of clothes and one of her favorite baby blankets.  We took this happy picture of Avery before a very sad mommy loaded her in the car seat and took her off to school.  When Laura dropped her off she was sleeping.

Laura decided to go by her daycare at lunch and snapped this picture of Avery happy to see her mommy.  She was just chilling in her bouncy seat before Laura came in.  Notice she is still wearing the same outfit as the morning.

However, when Laura picked her up the story got a lot more interesting.  Avery wasn't screaming or anything, but was wearing different clothes.  In fact it was her third set of clothes. She had managed to mess up the one she wore to school and one extra that was packed.  I guess that is why they ask for 2 extra sets.....  Check out her report card below and see if you can see why she needed extra clothes.

Finally.....happy to be home!

Beach Trip Part 2

So after we took Avery on the beach we thought we would take her swimming in the pool.

She had some initial concerns about the water......

But after a minute or two she relaxed and just sprawled out.  She even started working on her kicks as I swam her around the pool.

Beach Trip Part 1

This is our last few days away from work with Miss Avery Jean.  I was playing golf in Myrtle Beach so Laura decided to drive down and pick me up to go to Ocean Isle with some friends.  Avery was really good for the entire trip despite having to spend 2 long days in the car.  On Sunday afternoon we took her out to the beach when it was cloudy to dip her feet in the sand and take a few pictures.  She seemed to enjoy it, but she always enjoys the water and being outside.
