Avery's First Trip to the Lake

I decided to ship Daddy off to Canoefest to have fun (as much as possible without me there) with friends while Avery, Charger and I drove up to the lake.  Grandma and Granddaddy Marshall were ready to spoil us silly!
Saturday our good friends Matt and Missy came up for the day with their daughter Morgan.  She is 360 days older than Avery so I got to see one year into my future - walking, laughing, and feeding goldfish to Charger :)  The rest of the weekend was mostly spent rocking in the porch swing and eating banana pudding.  I was able to catch a few rays of sun and hop on the jetski while the grandparents oohed and ahhed over Princess Avery.  Of course Charger got up early to go fishing with Granddaddy.  We all had a great time!

Off to Canoefest

It is that time of year....off to Canoefest.  Laura is taking Avery up to the lake to hang out with her grandparents, while I am off canoeing with my friends.  I am going to miss Laura on the river, but I am really going to miss this smiling face.

4 AM Photoshoot

So apparently last night, Avery didn't want to go back to bed after her usual 5 hours. She laid in the bed doing calisthenics (wide-awake) for a while until Laura got her out and took her upstairs to rock. Avery seemed so happy in her crib upstairs Laura was able to take a few pictures.

Of course it didn't last forever and Avery went back to sleep in the bed with Laura, while I played golf. She fell asleep on her side and was too cute not to take this picture.....

For the record...

This is the cutest sleeping baby I know! Of course we think she's the cutest baby when she sneezes, coughs, poops, whatever, but I digress.... I posted a while back about a 7 hour night and she has not repeated that (yet). However, let the record show that she has been sleeping for a solid 5 hours for almost 2 weeks now. After a feeding she will sleep another 2 to 3 hrs. Soon that will be my cue to get up and shower and start the work day.... UGH.. work. But for now, she can rest another hour or so on my chest in our comfy bed and we both fall asleep to the sound of Charger snoring.

Avery's Weekend in Greensboro

Avery also had a fun weekend in Greensboro. Her grandparents offered to watch her while mom and dad went out and had some fun. Granddad got to change a pretty massive diaper, but got to bond with Avery and now they are best of friends.

Aunt Sara and Uncle Mark were there as well, so she had lots of fun making faces for Sara.

Uncle Drew and Aunt Ashley dropped by and gave her this sweet chair for football next season. She had to try it out, but needed some help climbing into it.

Weekend In Greensboro (Avery and Raptor Free Portion)

We decided to spend this weekend in Greensboro. So on friday we loaded the pilot up with all the necessary things to take care of a baby and a dog, plus golf clubs and a bunch of stuff that wasn't necessary to take care of a child.

Friday evening we stopped at Mike and Meredith's to meet their daughter Kate. Laura's old work friend Heather stopped by with her husband and their two kids. While the ladies watched the babies and traded delivery war stories, the men did what men do. We watched the toddlers. We don't have any pictures of the event, but there was a lot of double dipping, noise making, and feeding charger chips by the toddlers.

On Saturday, I figured that in order to best live out my last day before the raptors came, I should go play golf with Mike. No raptors were spotted, but Mike shot an eagle.

That evening we decided to go the the Grasshoppers game and leave Avery with her grandparents. By the end of the game we decided that we were probably safe from the raptors and that nut in California was wrong about it all.

More to come about Avery's weekend...............

2 Months Old

Avery turned 2 months old yesterday.....So we decided to take her to the doctors office today to celebrate......

She weighed in at a whopping 9lbs 6oz which puts her in the 20th percentile and had a length of 21.75" which is in the 30th percentile. Her head size continues to out pace her body coming in the 55% percentile.

So while we were waiting on the doctor we had the happiest baby in the whole world. This was her grinning on the doctors table waiting for her exam.....

This is after her 3 shots. It is a blurry picture, but I am sure you can figure out how she was feeling.

Talking

I tried to capture her talking but of course as soon as you get the camera out she stops talking. She did give a smile on command which she is doing more and more.

Un-Lucky 7

Laura was right....she did jinx the sleeping 7 hours.

This is the face Avery gives us as we are burping her.....

We started putting her in her bumpo seat. She seems to do pretty well in it for about 15 minutes before getting upset at the lack of moving things to entertain her. Hopefully she will take to this more so she can watch us eat at the table rather then screaming bloody murder if she happens to be awake and can't see us.

Giving a pound out to her homies. Stay Strong.

Lucky Seven

I'm almost afraid to type this, afraid I might jinx it, but.... Avery SLEPT a solid seven hours last night! Hooray! Let's do it again!

Actually, I thought it was going to be a bad night. She was not on schedule for most of the day and didn't get a real nap in and seemed to be snacking a lot. Maybe she was just sooo tired and that's why she slept through the night. On the other hand, maybe she's getting to the age where she is ready to drop a feeding and let mommy get some rest -- that's my hope.

For the first several weeks, we wrapped her in swaddle blankets, but she started wiggling out of them and really prefers to sleep arms up. Robert says she's dreaming about the big fish she caught with Granddaddy Marshall up at the lake. Sounds good to me.

Cinco De Puko

Sorry for the lack of posts, but Avery has been a sweetheart and a booger the last few days.

I think this picture illustrates her lack of desire for a decent bedtime.
However, now that she is growing some, we finally to get to try on all the cute pajamas that she got in her different baby showers. I am partial to this one.
