Fall Festival

So on a weekend that we were home during football season, Avery and Carter's school had a fall festival with bouncy houses, junk food, and all kinds of games.

They even had the Hornet's mascot and a few cheerleaders.  Carter was mostly interested in the cheerleaders and wouldn't get close to the mascot.

There was a train that drove around the parking lot that Carter made us ride at least a dozen times.
I think he enjoyed it.

The local tae kwon do school also gave the kids the opportunity to break some boards, so Avery stepped up and punched right thru it.

After the festival, Laura dropped Avery and I off at the local high school so we could watch some more football.

We got to eat popcorn for dinner!
We had a great time and headed home after the band.  She still hasn't decided if she wants to be a cheerleader or in the band when she gets to high school, but really enjoys going to the games when we can.

Football Games

We are so behind on the blog, but we are going to catch up.  So Avery had to miss the first football game since it was on a Thursday night before the first day of kindergarten, so she was pretty excited to get to go to her first one.

As Laura said, "Avery's Happy Place"

Avery really loves watching the band, cheerleaders, and players arrive at the stadium and it is really close to our parking spots.  Here she is giving the head coach and the players high fives.

Making silly faces while we wait for the game to start

At some point Avery got the phone from Laura and started taking selfies with her friends.
And of course, silly uncle David.

Avery's Fun Run for school

CLICK TO SUPPORT ME
Avery's school (Elon Park Elementary) is hosting a fundraiser next week.  The students will run/walk laps and hopefully get sponsors to donate money for each lap.
We've been told this is the main fundraiser for the year and it's quick and easy.  So if you feel inclined, Avery would love to have your support!

She is enjoying school and making new friends.  I can't believe she rides the bus (I think that's the scariest part for me), but her friend Lilly and her older sister ride the same bus so that's comforting :)
Her teacher shares feedback about behavior and class activities through an app called Class Dojo.  Each day we can see on our phone when points are added (or subtracted) for following directions, staying on task, walking quietly in the halls, etc.  The only thing missing is web cameras in the classroom!
But we do get photos sometimes like this:

Columbus Day art project

Sorting and then eating marshmellows

Science project with apples

Science project with pumpkins

Heisinger Wedding

On Saturday, we headed out to Joe and Stephanie's wedding after getting everyone everywhere they needed to be.  Carter was looking good in his tuxedo and Avery looked like a princess in her flower girl dress.  These are the pictures we captured, but there are a ton of amazing pictures that the wedding photographer captured on their website http://jenniferbphotography.pixieset.com/joeandstephanie/

Avery had this grin on her most of the time she was in that dress.

We did get one picture as a family on our camera all together.

It didn't take long after the ceremony and sitting still that Carter was ready to party!

Joe and Stephanie enjoying their first dance.

Carter was pretty happy to see his mother.  I don't think he recognized her in her bridesmaid dress.
Avery was a dancing machine all night long.  It didn't take her long to kick off her shoes and drag us out on to the dance floor.

Even Carter had fun on the dance floor, until they turned up the music for real dancing at which he was ready to head out and thanks again for my parents heading back to the hotel with little man.
Avery the dancing machine!

Towards the end of the night, they played a slow song and her little cousin came up to her and slow danced with her.  It was hilarious.  Avery even taught him how to twirl her.
