Football Season

This weekend marked the beginning of football season for us and many trips to the Grandparents on the way to Raleigh.  This weekend we went through Greensboro so that we could celebrate my dad's 60th birthday and pick up Brandi and Mike.

Avery wore her NC State stuff to school on Friday.  On the butt, it says "Born to Tailgate", but we decided that since she is a lady she should wear shorts on top of it.
In greensboro my parents had fun spoiling Avery.  They took her to the park, took her out to eat, and played all kinds of games with her.  She even got to go on a wagon ride with her best friend Charger.

Goofy

Nothing like leaving Avery at home with her mother for a couple hours...

Airport

Last weekend I took Avery out of the house for a little while to go see one of her new favorite things...airplanes.  Everytime an airplane flys over our neighborhood, Avery stops walking, says "air plane", and starts scanning the skies for it.  On my trip out to Portland, I brought her back a little airplane to play with.  The Charlotte Airport has a great viewing area to park your car and watch the airplanes take off and land, so we spent an hour or so just watching them take off.  She followed each one as it came down the runway and followed it in the sky until she heard another one taking off.  Towards the end she was waving bye to each one of them.
She had to wear the sunglasses.

She was amazed the entire time.

Avery's Favorite Song/Video

So those of you that actually know us know that we have music on a lot at the house.  Recently Avery has been listening to a lot of Old Crow Medicine Show.  She has a good time bouncing and dancing along to the songs.  On one of the last time she was sick, I introduced her to a couple videos on youtube and ever since then she will wander into my office trying to get in my chair.  Once she is in the chair, she mutters in her own language until I play her favorite video, "Bootlegger's Boy" by Old Crow Medicine Show, filmed by Crackerfarm.  I think Avery probably has half of the view count for the video.

Interacting with the video...
At the end she will always clap.

Cleaning

So I have mentioned before that Avery likes things clean.  I can only hope this phase never ends...

If she sees a water spot on the floor, she knows where to find a rag to wipe it up, will wipe it up, and put the rag back in the drawer.
You can see the open drawer where she got the cleaning rag.
We had a couple people over on Saturday so Avery did a good job cleaning up around the house.  I had to remove a couple sections from the dust mop and she spent close to 30 minutes pushing it around the hardwood floors cleaning them up.  These pictures are from her using the brush to wipe off the front porch.

Beach Part 2

More pictures from the beach

Avery loving being outside in the sun and at the beach, rocking the shades.
Very afraid of the water coming in.
Walking without shoes (!!!!) and walking Harpo.  Some lady stopped to take their picture because she thought it was too cute.  I agree.
Off on a walk by herself.  She only wanted to walk on the firm sand away from the water and with her water shoes on.
Getting a ride in the wagon.  Notice that the wagon doesn't have beach wheels, but that didn't stop Avery from demanding long rides from anyone that was around or wanting to pull the wagon by herself.

Beach Part 1

Over Labor day weekend Laura took Avery to the beach with her extended family while I went to Atlanta to  watch NC State play.  The trip was going to be very interesting because it combined her love of being outside and water along with her greatest pet peeves of dirty feet/hands and people not wearing shoes.  A constant ying/yang that Avery would have to battle.

Avery was very hesitant of the water and the fact that it moved in and out.  She refused to get near it and would run away from it when it came in.  And yes, that is how she wanted to wear her sunglasses.  On her head like her mother.
Extreme concern about the water coming in...
Once she sat on Mommy's lap she realized the water could be fun.  However she refused to take off her coverup because she had just eaten too much mac and cheese and her belly was poking out.
How does a baby with a phobia of dirt play with sand at the beach?  On a blanket of course!  She would scoop sand from outside the blanket and dump it in her bucket.
Finally a big smile for being at the beach!

Go Wolfpack

I wasn't the only one upset about how the game went on Friday.

But seriously, this is a picture of her cheering watching the game hanging out at Stephanie's house.
