4 Months Old

This little guy had his 4 month check up this week.  He is up to 13lbs, 7oz which puts him at 10% in his class while his head came in at 42.5 inches, which remains in the 73rd percentile.  However, he has shot up in height and is now at 25.5 inches, which is in the 62nd percentile.  This confirms the fact that he is indeed growing.  In other news he occasionally sleeps through the night, which is a blessing to Mommy.  He isn't a real big napper at school, but loves a long nap on the weekends.  He loves to smile at his big sister everyday, but Daddy get's the best smiles out of him.  Overall, he is a really happy and easy baby.  On to the pictures....

Such a cutie...
Getting so long...
He hasn't got the sitting thing figured out yet.
Over the past month he has discovered toys. When he would drop this toy out of his visual sight, he started crying until he saw where he dropped it.  I am not sure if that is a good step forward or not...

Avery had the flu (??)

Avery woke up early last Sunday with a fever and a headache.  She was so pitiful!  With the flu going around town, I knew we needed to go see the doctor.  Sure enough, after sticking a swab way further up her nose than I ever thought possible, it was confirmed, she had the flu.  Daddy picked up her meds and called in nurse Gigi.  Unfortunately, Robert had big meetings at work and I was flying to Ohio so we couldn't stay home with our pitiful patient.

However, seeing Gigi perked her right up (I guess the Tamiflu helped too) and she had some pretty fun "sick days" at home.

Introducing Chef Avery!  She cooks, eats, and washes dishes (unless her parents are around).

One of Gigi's specialties is sweet rolls (like a cinnamon-raisin bun) and Avery got to help make a batch (as seen above).  The following weekend, she and I went to the grocery store and Avery asked if we could make more sweet rolls.  She explained to me that it was quite easy, I just had to buy cinnamon, raisins, and bread; and follow the recipe in Gigi's book.  It didn't matter that I don't have the dough or starter to make the dough.... I think I'm gonna need a "Laura-proof" version of sweet rolls because Avery is hooked!

Year Three Stats

Avery had her 3 year well visit on Friday (just 2 days after a sick visit).  Her Bronchitis is on it's way out and she's a happy, healthy 3 year old.  No vaccines this time so it was a pleasant visit.

Height: 36 inches (25th percentile)
Weight:  28.2 lbs ((25th percentile)
BMI:  15.5 (44th percentile)

So she's a runt, but her stats are pretty proportional.  She passed the vision test no problem.  It was so cute watching her stand there and call out the shapes as the nurse pointed - "apple, umbrella, house."  In the waiting room, the floor had alternating red and blue tiles.  Avery said "Mommy it's a pattern (said patter-ran)."  I guess she is listening in school because I didn't know she knew that concept.

Also at age 3, you get to wear a lovely gown for the doctor.  I told Avery it was like dress up so she didn't mind too much.  I wish I still got a sticker and bag of goldfish crackers for having to wear one.
