Any time we have a few hours at home, Avery's favorite thing to do is go to the pool! We load up the wagon and head to our spot on the shady side of the pool. She knows sunscreen comes first and always claims it's dry about 3 seconds after it's applied. She puts on the life jacket and starts "swimming" from one end to the other. After a few laps, she easily convinces her daddy to join in the water play. I really don't want summer to end... I sense a meltdown when the pool closes for the year.

Ocean Isle Beach
This past weekend we spent a few days at the beach at Mary & Jimmy's parent's house along with Mary, Jimmy, their son Easton, Mary's parents, Kyle and his son Neely, Pete, Ashley, and their daughter Charlotte (Charlie) as well as PJ and Julie stopped by. So a full house of fun for a few days. I was a bit concerned how Avery would deal with that many people in addition to being at the beach after Laura's rough trip down to the beach with her family. Luckily, Avery had an awesome time, eat really well, and slept great.
As soon as we got to the beach the first day she walked straight down to the ocean by herself.
Later on during the day, she would walk down to the ocean by herself.
Later on in the weekend she was walking into the water on her own without really turning around and looking to see if anyone was coming with her.
Mary and Jimmy's house also had a pool in the back, which was great for everyone. We would spend the mornings at the beach, come back feed the kids, put them down for a nap, and hang out by the pool for the rest of the day. We got Avery a new lifejacket after trying one out at the family reunion. Her old one allowed her to sink a little bit and she would not remain upright while using it. Granted it was not a real life jacket, but it did require someone to hold on to her at all times. With this new one she would float on her own.She must have done 20 laps the first day kicking up and down the pool. Anytime we would get near her, she would say "No....I do it by myself." The downside of this self confidence is that one day after lunch, she wanted to get back in the pool despite us saying no. She proceeded to walk down the stairs and sink straight to the bottom. Granted I was right beside her and grabbed her, but she did not seem phased at all about it.
Racing down the pool against Jimmy.
Eating watermelon.
And pretzels.
She even let me bury her legs in the sand.Wednesday, July 10, 2013
Pool Time
Since it is summer, we have been spending as much possible time at the pool when we are home. Avery loves it and we have to drag her out of it kicking and screaming everytime.
She has always been good at splashing daddy.
Our neighbors, The Ferguson's, have a pool that has a kiddie area with a water slide. Way cooler than our pool. We went over there for the fourth of July and Avery had to go down the frog about 1000x times. The Fergusons are moving which is sad, but hopefully we can sneak back in there from time to time.
"One more time daddy!"
The only way we can get her out of the pool a lot of times is with the lure of fruit snacks.

Pool Time
So I am about a week behind so there should be plenty of updates this week. We have had a busy couple of weeks, but mostly spent a lot of time at the pool. For my birthday we had a bunch of people over at the house and Mary n Jimmy came up with Easton to go to the pool.
Mary brought funny sunglasses for the kids to wear.
Avery wanted to pull Easton on the way back.We tried to have a chicken fight with our kids, but Avery was pretty un-cooperative.
No, this is not Avery and Easton making out. They were pretending to be monkeys and tickling each other's faces.
Here they are acting like goobers.

Pool Time
This past weekend we took advantage of the nice weather and decided to head down to the pool for an hour or so. We would stay longer, but it is a lot of work to keep Avery out of the pool and she wears herself out in it very quickly. From the moment we walk in, she stares at the pool and begs to get in. From the moment she gets in, she continues to splash until the moment we pull her out because she is shivering from being cold.
Looking stylish showing off the canoefest coozies.
OMG!!!! WHY AM I NOT IN THE WATER?!!?Daddy tickling her from under water.
Smiling at daddy while floating in the pool.
